What is Cere's Naming System?

Cere's naming system allows users to add personal details to their on-chain account and request verification by registrars. This information is publicly available on-chain, so users should be cautious not to overshare.

Users can register information such as legal name, display name, website, Twitter handle, etc., and custom fields for attestations.

A bond must be reserved to store information on-chain. To be clear though, these funds are locked, not spent, and are returned when the identity is cleared.

How Can I Set My Identity On-chain?

  1. Open Accounts page on https://explorer.cere.network

  2. Click the three vertical dots next to your account.

  3. Select "Set on-chain identity."

  4. Fill in the fields.

  5. Click "Set Identity," sign and submit the transaction.

How to Clear an Identity on Cere?

Clearing an identity removes the information and returns the deposit. It also clears all sub-accounts and their deposits.

How Can I Clear My Identity?

  1. Go to the "Accounts" tab.
  2. Click the three dots corresponding to the account and select "Set on-chain identity."
  3. Select "Clear Identity," sign and submit the transaction.
  4. Note: The Council can remove an identity deemed erroneous, resulting in a slash of the deposit.
