This article provides a comprehensive guide on how to set and clear an identity on Cere, including the process for setting sub-identities. It emphasizes the importance of being cautious with the information shared, as it becomes publicly available on-chain.
Cere's naming system allows users to add personal details to their on-chain account and request verification by registrars. This information is publicly available on-chain, so users should be cautious not to overshare.
Users can register information such as legal name, display name, website, Twitter handle, etc., and custom fields for attestations.
A bond must be reserved to store information on-chain. To be clear though, these funds are locked, not spent, and are returned when the identity is cleared.
Open Accounts page on https://explorer.cere.network
Click the three vertical dots next to your account.
Select "Set on-chain identity."
Fill in the fields.
Click "Set Identity," sign and submit the transaction.
Clearing an identity removes the information and returns the deposit. It also clears all sub-accounts and their deposits.
